Welcome to Southend Medical Centre

Thank you for registering with Southend's Trusted Family Practice

A family-run NHS GP surgery on London Road, in the heart of Southend-on-Sea. We've been caring for local families since 2009, and whether you've been with us for years or you're thinking of joining us, this page covers who we are, what we offer, and how to access our services.

Our Story

Access that fits around your lifestyle

Southend Medical Centre was founded on 12th November 2009 by Dr B Agha and Dr H Siddique, and officially opened by HRH Prince Seeiso Bereng Seeiso of Lesotho. We've been a family-run practice from the very start, and that's shaped how we work ever since: we know our community, we take the time to listen, and we treat every patient as we'd want our own family treated. Today, the practice is run by Dr R Siddique and Dr H Siddique, carrying that same approach forward.

Meet Our Team

Behind the scenes, our Care Navigators, Medical Secretaries, Prescribing Clerks and Administration Staff keep everything running smoothly. And because we're part of a wider Primary Care Network (PCN), you can often be booked directly with a specialist rather than waiting to see a GP first, including a health and wellbeing coach, first contact physiotherapist, clinical pharmacist, social prescriber, care coordinator and mental health team.

How to access our services

All routes of access are open, so you can reach us by phone, online or in person, whichever suits you best. That said, we ask patients to access GP services online where possible rather than by phone, which helps us cut the 8am rush and get back to you faster. Please use our online request form.

For managing your care day to day, the NHS App lets you request repeat prescriptions, check test results, read messages from the NHS, and book and manage appointments, all from your phone, tablet or computer. Search "NHS App" in the App Store or Google Play Store, or use the NHS App Online Portal if you don't have a smartphone.

Southend Medical Centre should avoid being used as an urgent care service or walk-in centre. Please try to plan your healthcare by booking in advance: pre-bookable appointments are very often available within 10 days, while on-the-day appointments are extremely limited. Thank you for understanding.

Once you're registered, we'll invite you for a New Patient Health Check with our Practice Nurse, so we can get to know you and your health from day one.

If you need repeat medication, please call us on 01702 333298 to arrange a medication review appointment before it's added to your record. Repeat medication requests themselves can't be taken by phone.

Important health notice: blood transfusions before 1996

In response to the Infected Blood Inquiry, NHS England is asking anyone who may have had a blood transfusion in the UK before 1996 to come forward. Evidence shows it's extremely unlikely that anyone would contract a bloodborne illness from infected blood after universal blood screening began in September 1991.

If this may be relevant to you, you can take a Hepatitis C test by following the instructions at hepctest.nhs.uk.
